Material Composition:

Care: Machine wash: If you want to wash wool in the washing machine, you should make sure to select the wool program. However, to protect the material, hand washing is recommended. You can easily wash coarse knits in a laundry bag.

Hand wash: If you want to wash your wool clothing by hand, proceed as follows: soak for about 10 to 15 minutes at a maximum water temperature of 30°C, then squeeze briefly and rinse well with water that is no more than 30°C. Do not rub or scrub.

Stains: Before washing, you can dab items that no longer bleed with a few drops of pure Cashmere & Wool Shampoo. Leave to work for around 10 minutes, then wash. Pull wool items into shape on a terry towel and roll them up. Unwrap after around 30 minutes and leave to dry lying down. Do not dry near a heater or in the sun. Please wash light and brightly colored wool items separately. Constantly move printed wool or items made of strong colors mixed with white in the wash bath. If the water changes color, place it in a new wash bath immediately. Wool with a superwash finish can also be machine washed (max. 30 °C). Do not machine dry!

Why cashmere and wool need special delicate detergents

Cashmere and wool are among the most precious and at the same time most sensitive materials in the fashion world. These natural fibers are known for their luxurious feel, breathability and thermal insulation. However, their nature also makes them particularly susceptible to damage, especially due to incorrect care. Conventional detergents, such as those used for cotton or synthetic fabrics, are therefore not suitable for wool and cashmere . They often contain aggressive chemicals such as bleach or enzymes that can attack the sensitive fibers and permanently change their structure.

Special detergents for delicate fabrics have been developed to meet these challenges. They not only clean gently, but also preserve the natural properties of the fibers. This type of detergent prevents matting, maintains softness and ensures that the fine textiles look like new for a long time.

What are the differences between powder and liquid detergent?

The difference between powder and liquid detergents is not only in the consistency, but also in the effect. Powder detergents are particularly effective at removing heavy soiling from robust fabrics such as cotton. They often contain bleach, which can damage cashmere and wool. In addition, washing powders often do not dissolve completely and can leave residues on delicate fabrics.

Liquid detergents, on the other hand, are ideal for delicate fabrics. They dissolve immediately in the water and do not leave behind any particles that could attack the fibers. Their mild formula protects the fibers and removes dirt without damaging the structure of wool, such as merino or cashmere. Liquid detergents are therefore the preferred choice for delicate materials, as they allow for even and gentle cleaning.

Washing Cashmere: The Step-by-Step Guide

Cashmere is one of the most luxurious materials, known for its exceptional softness and lightness. But this noble fiber requires particularly careful care. With the right approach, you can ensure that your cashmere pieces retain their quality even after many washes.

  • Preparation: Before you begin, check the care label on your garment for important information about whether the item is suitable for hand or machine washing. Also, gently remove surface soiling by hand or with a soft brush.
  • Choose the right detergent: A high-quality cashmere detergent or a specially formulated delicate detergent is essential. These products contain mild ingredients that clean the fibers without damaging them. Our special care detergent for cashmere & wool from Princess goes Hollywood is the ideal choice for this!
  • Hand wash: Fill a basin with lukewarm water (not over 30°C) and add a small amount of detergent. Swirl the water to distribute the detergent. Carefully place the cashmere item in and gently move it to loosen any dirt. Avoid rubbing or vigorous wringing as this can damage the fibres.
  • Rinse: Rinse the garment thoroughly with clean, lukewarm water until all detergent residue is gone. Make sure the water is not too cold or too hot, as extreme temperatures can damage the fibers.
  • Drying: Gently squeeze the water out of the cashmere without wringing the piece. Lay it flat on a towel, roll the towel with the garment inside and press gently to absorb excess moisture. Then lay the cashmere piece flat on a dry surface and gently pull it into shape. Avoid direct sunlight or heat sources such as radiators.

Washing wool - How to preserve the quality!

Wool is a natural all-rounder that offers warmth, comfort and style in one. But caring for this material is demanding, as wool can easily become matted or lose its shape if treated incorrectly. With these tips, your wool clothing will stay in top condition for a long time.

  • Use the right detergent: A wool detergent that has been specifically developed for the needs of the fibers is essential. Ideally, it contains substances to support the wool's natural protective layer and keep the fibers supple.
  • Make sure you use the right temperature: Wool usually does not tolerate high temperatures. Always wash your clothes at a maximum of 30 °C to prevent shrinkage. When hand washing, use lukewarm water that is neither too cold nor too hot.
  • Gentle wash cycle: If you use the machine, select the wool wash cycle. This works with a reduced spin speed and gentle movements so as not to put unnecessary strain on the fibers. When hand washing, gently press the garment in the water instead of rubbing it.
  • Avoid spinning: Wool should never be spun vigorously. Instead, you can gently squeeze out excess water with your hands and lay the garment flat on a towel to remove the moisture.
  • Dry properly: Lay the garment flat on a flat surface to dry. Do not hang it up as the weight of the garment could distort the fibers. Pull the garment back into its original shape and let it dry at room temperature - away from direct sunlight or radiators.

With these detailed tips and the right care products, your high-quality cashmere and wool clothing will not only stay clean, but also durable and comfortable!
